Job description
MAIN ACTIVITIES :
Manages the scope of engineering work, schedules, and budgets for the assigned package elements, monitoring progress to maintain compliance to those schedules and budgets.
Manages the utilization of interdisciplinary technical personnel on the Project with all OSC Discipline Engineers.
Manages the assignment of personnel from other technical support groups within the Company.
Supervises recruitment based on workload forecasts prepared by package.
Manages the production of deliverables lists and cost, time and resources in preparation for the call for Tender for the Procurement Supply, Construction and Commissioning Package.
Manages planning, directing, supervising, and controlling the execution of the technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the Detailed Engineering and the project.
Determines the technical skills and man-hours required for the Detailed Engineering.
Ensures Company criteria and scope is understood and met by all engineering disciplines. Expedites distribution of action items following discussions / meetings. Understands the Projects goals in order to enhance the project work.
Prepares technical reports, project manuals, and documentation of activity for Company
Obtains, analyzes, and circulates technical and contractual information to Package disciplines.
Reviews and prepares change orders as required. Notifies affected personnel of all changes.
Interfaces with Construction Management team in coordination with Vendors and Contractors. Assists in Tender analysis, reviews and recommendation, Vendor and Contractor availability and capability.
Ensure full Compliance with Technical Scope of Work with applicable codes & standards and Company’s General Specifications
Ensure Technical / Contractual Interfaces between Third Party Authority and Detailed Engineering Contractor
Ensure relevant documents are reviewed systematically by the appropriate discipline leaders. Record and formally transmit any comments to and from Contractor.
Attend & Manage weekly Engineering meetings and other meetings to ensure the Detailed Engineering is within schedule & budget.
Manage Detailed Engineering Planning and Reporting. Prepare Plans, schedules and reports as necessary.
Provide input to the overall project planning.
Management, Follow up and monitoring of Documentation Processing and the Companies Document Management System. PRODOM. Ensure all documents are transferred to PRODOM.
Provide Technical Leadership and Vision at the highest level to promote and implement innovative/cutting edge engineering methods & safe systems of work for effective buildability of construction.
Effective communication with senior management, designers, consultants, & project teams on technical matters.
Overall control of engineering systems, documentation and controls which comply with Health & Safety legislation, Company and industry standards.
Technical review & recommendation of major Contract packages, materials and services.
Completes all other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Job requirements
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Degree holder preferably in Civil Engineering.
Minimum of 15 years working experience.
Minimum of 10 years in Management of Engineering of buildings.
Experience of working in Nigeria is preferable
Experience in Contract Management
Fluent in English, Autonomous, Highly motivated, Rigorous.
Proven technical & professional competence as a Chartered Engineer.
Extensive experience in Buildings
Excellent Presentation & Communication skills at all levels
