Established in May 1995, the Social and Economic Rights Action Center (SERAC) is a Lagos-based non-governmental and non-partisan organization concerned with the promotion and protection of economic, social and cultural rights (ESC rights) in Nigeria.

DIRECTOR, POLICY AND PLANNING

A path-breaking opportunity to serve on a senior management team alongside multidisciplinary professionals who are committed to the full realization of social and economic rights in Nigeria exists. The successful candidate will have:
• An advanced understanding of Nigeria's policymaking environment and political history;
• The capacity to draw tangible, non-partisan policy conclusions from rights-based research findings, then to design and execute high-profile human rights campaigns around them;
• Stellar written and communication skills;
• Excellent organizational management skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Doctoral or Master’s degree in law, development, social sciences or a related field, with broad knowledge of international human rights law.
• At least ten years management-level experience with a non-governmental organization.

SENIOR PROGRAM OFFICER, HOUSING
The successful candidate will have the capacity to:
• Demonstrate knowledge of relevant national, regional and international legislation; policy frameworks and public sector structures in relation to the right to adequate housing in Nigeria;
• Understand the current economic and social situations and range of issues impacting on the right to adequate housing in Nigeria, and identify emerging opportunities for engagement on other housing-related concerns;
• Mentor and develop staff by setting clear expectations;
• Write, review research and detailed factual reports with accuracy and good presentation;
• Plan work and manage programs of works budgets, fundraise and manage staff.

PROJECT MANAGER, SOCIAL HOUSING
ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER, SOCIAL HOUSING
The successful candidates will:
• Have a minimum of seven years of housing sector-related working experience in initiating and/or evaluating modern low-cost and non-profit housing developments and best practices (including the underlying critical components of site analysis, land acquisition, and multiple family housing construction and project management supervision);
• Evidence keen familiarity with federal, Lagos State, and local government zoning and planning laws and regulations, and permit approval processes;
• Be able to draft and comprehend complex business plans, budgets, contracts, proposals and financial reports and including reviewing housing proformas;
• Have the capacity to develop and maintain viable relationships with lending institutions, general contractors, independent consultants (e.g., architects and town planners), relevant parastatals, the media, and other key stakeholders associated with social housing delivery in Nigeria;
• Possess an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the processes involved in the integrated development of community-based initiatives;
• Be able to write narrative project reports with clarity and accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications for both positions:
• University degree or HND in Urban and Regional Management, Estate Management or Quantity Survey, Civil or Building Engineering, or Town/Urban Planning.
• A Post-graduate degree will be an added advantage.

FUNDRAISER
We seek a dynamic, motivated individual to improve the recruitment, development and retention of donors, supporters and members. The candidate must possess the following:
• A Bachelors degree in the Social Sciences;
• A minimum of 2 years in program development experience complemented by broad technical skills in one or more of these areas: economic and social development, good governance, advocacy, and civil society development;
• Excellent persuasive negotiation skills;
• Proficiency with the basics of at least one fundraising database software program;
• Breadth and depth of Development experience to provide leadership for a comprehensive Development program including individual major gifts, foundations, direct mail, comprehensive campaign and special events; and
• A personal track record of success in garnering individual major gifts.


WEB DEVELOPER AND GRAPHIC DESIGNER
The web developer and graphic designer will be responsible for creating informative and engaging visuals for on-line and print-based platforms. Must be proficient in CorelDraw, Flash animation and be able to work with ASP.Net. Demonstrable experience managing online databases and high-volume discussion forums is required. The successful candidate must also have excellent written and oral communication skills.

DRIVER
The successful candidate must hold a SSCE (or its equivalent) and have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Must possess a minimum of five years of verifiable professional driving experience, and display an excellent knowledge of Nigerian roads and traffic regulations.
