Adexen Recruitment Agency is mandated by a world leader in FMCG household, health care and personal care products, looking for a head of planning for its Nigerian manufacturing arm.
Job description
The Head of Planning will be responsible for the management of the total supply chain from demand to the customer, contribute to the overall business strategy of the company and to support categories and areas in the growth of net revenues as well as drive gross margin expansion and improvement of cash management.
He will report to the Supply Service Manager and should have the potential to take over this position in two years.


Responsibilities
Consistent delivery of first class customer service measured by pack and order fill and customer satisfaction
Supporting the implementation of the supply strategy and to lead the continuous development of all system, procedures and work instructions necessary to ensure that the department fully complies with company policy.
Achieve all key measurable in relation to stock levels, supplier performance and customer satisfaction through managing appropriate inventory, service levels per agreed guidelines
Development of Sales & Operations Planning processes & sales forecast accuracy improvement
Lead complexity reduction programmes to improve focus and Gross Margin enhancement
Management of local embellishment activities to customize product close to point of consumption
Receiving, analyzing and monitor all schedules for a specific range of customers. You will also convert these customer requirements into a feasible master production schedule (MPS) and monitor the input of this data into the JDE system on a weekly basis
To further develop (in conjunction with other departments) all systems necessary for the company to fully utilize all applicable applications within MPS, MRP and any capacity planning tools available to the department.
To continuously investigate new methods of increasing the throughput of Work-In-Progress and at the same time reducing the stock of the same e.g. Lean Manufacturing.
Manage warehouse staff for efficient inventory
Direct ordering and supply management from external manufacturers
Effective customer / trade relationship development / business relationships focusing on supply chain efficiency & service improvement
Inventory management / working capital and Monitoring for products quality status
Effective order management with the goal of perfect orders
Execution of promotional, sourcing & NPD production planning
Organization and people development
Work in partnership with IS to facilitate the development of systems e.g. Forecasting, Logistics Management Systems, CRP, etc.
The achievement of all customers’ volume requirements on time as stated and agreed within each project brief.
Monitor stock levels against customer requirements and predetermined inventory policies, with the aim of keeping the overall stock value to a minimum, but at the same time ensuring sufficient stock is always available to meet all production demands.
Achievement of account receivable and account payable targets
Review and monitoring capacity utilization against demand.
Delivering continuous cost reduction through cost-effective way of scheduling and to keep all costs to the company to a minimum, specifically those associated with transport and storage.
Supporting the commercial business within the country
Qualifications et experience
Must have a BSc. in Engineering, Economics or any relevant field. SCM professional qualification will be an added advantage.
Graduate with 8yrs+ multi-functional supply experience in an FMCG international business and commercial exposure
Familiarity with production planning, inventory management, demand/Supply planning and Logistics.
Applicable experience in a manufacturing environment using lean manufacturing techniques, good analysis skills, a good understanding of scheduling, MRP, Material Control and Purchasing
Significant experience in production planning in an ERP based system with a high number of SKU’s and work cells.

Knowledge of local / international legislation to ensure that the company meets its legal obligations in all areas including contracts, SHE, Tariffs / Import / Export license restrictions
Proven ability to effectively manage many suppliers

Proven expertise and skills in household product manufacturing technologies
Flexibility in thinking and pragmatic problem solving skills
Excellent interpersonal & leadership skills, able to influence people of all levels
Strong ability to review and identify issues and opportunities in business processes
Strong analytical skills – including commercial, financial acumen and budget management
Credible commercial and business awareness
Should be open to relocate internationally for career development and challenge. Flexible to travel if required
