Our global operations are going from strength to strength and, as such, we seek an experienced, career minded Financial Accountant to join the well established team in the Lagos office. This position will form an important role within E&A - Europe & Africa Region. Reporting globally to the Regional Finance Controller (in E&A), locally to the General Manager based in Lagos and by proxy to Corporate Finance Control (CFC) and Regional Director E&A in Amsterdam Head-Office, this position will lead the accounting and support the commercial functions within the country.
Job description
Duties:
Maintain a solid internal control environment with sound document retention/management practices and prepare monthly reconciliation statements for balance sheet accounts
Direct and supervise the transmission of relevant documents and information to CFC office for further processing,
Ensure tax compliance for Personal Income Tax; Withholding Tax; Value Added Tax and Corporate Income Tax liaising with the Revenue there over
Perform continuous review and development of processes across the Nigerian office to improve both reporting and cost efficiencies;
Ensure all payments are made in line with the company’s approved procedures
Maintain a fixed asset register
Liaising with external auditors, banking community, local authorities, advisors, and other partners,
Cash collection and debtor control for staff, customers and WHT receipts
Tender review and contracts management;
Special projects as directed by the FM and CFO;
Job requirements
Requirements:
High (post graduate) level of working and thinking;
A strong commercial background;
Experienced knowledge of tax laws and regulations (national must and international preferred);
Experience in working autonomously and managing a team;
Prior experience from a Big 4 Accounting firm is an advantage;
Change management experience;
Previous experience developing, implementing and improving internal control systems;
Some Knowledge of and experience with ERP systems (eg. Navision).
CPA qualified or equivalent;
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
