Role Summary/Purpose:
This role is based in Port Harcourt or Lagos, Nigeria with the primary objective of driving GE’s local compliance initiative and ensuring that existing suppliers maintain the highest quality levels and new suppliers are fully qualified to meet GE’s requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
• Lead the local content strategy of the GE’s businesses in Nigeria.
• Develop & implement a supplier management program for select key suppliers in Nigeria.
• Monitoring supplier quality and delivery performance and developing improvement strategies, process controls etc. to ensure business needs are met.
• Lead efforts to scout new suppliers, manage the supplier approval process and when needed, work in conjunction with Business Leaders, to train suppliers on mandatory compliance regulations.
• Maintain a database of all contracts & agreements and ensure that agreements are renewed before their expiry according to the sourcing policy.
• Lead self –audit of the sourcing team to ensure strict adherence to policies & procedures. Identify improvements to the process.
• Develop & maintain necessary a suite of reports & other management information to support informed decision making by the Regional sites and Global services leadership team.
• Lead the implementation of sourcing best practices and any other continuous improvement initiatives within the region.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma
• 7 years of experience in a Supply Chain/Sourcing role and at least 3 years in a supplier quality role.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred (GE employees only)
• Purchasing systems experience e.g. AS400, Oracle
• Excellent communication skills and analytical skills with the ability to manage and develop supplier relationships
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft office applications
• Integrative team working style & ability to work cross functionally
• Ability to work under tight time deadlines, with frequently changing priorities and sometimes-high stress levels
