Job description

To be the focal point of all Shipping Agents activities at the Onne Ports (FOT & FLT) as assigned.
Be responsible for the immediate handling of all relationship with the Nigeria Customs Service for all Company operations at the Onne Ports Ensure proper delineation, Warehousing and protection of all goods under Customs clearance.
To liaise with Port Operators in all Company shipping interest–viz Intels, BRAWAL, NPA, DMS, Onne DIAs, Customs etc
Coordinate all Terminal Operations for Company Imports at the Onne Ports
To perform IFF/WHSE defined functions in E‐Transit and other UNSUP entries as required, and promptly send alerts and notifications that may arise.
To participate in all pre‐cargo discharge meetings ahead of berthing with port operators and shippers agents.
To maintain & register equipment deployed for operations by port operators, and sign‐off related job sheets.
To register key transaction elements, Customs register and documentation of all cleared cargoes are maintained and provide appropriate Customs clearance documents on demand.
Follow‐up Clearing operations as laid out by the Shipping Officer (Sea).
Liaise with Technical Logistics on operational matters.
Maintain an efficient container tracking system with all parties for the control of demurrage
To liaise with Head of Yards for stacking spaces prior to the arrival of vessels with Company cargoes.
To ensure deliveries are made promptly, maintain/dispatch copies of waybills, and ensure transfers to the warehouse receiving section. Ensure efficient Material reception
Use Company Tools, UNISUP as required for operations or defined periodically by the hierarchy
To ensure that delivery documents are dispatched promptly for data updates and PO file closures
Supervise and take reports of activities of our marine cargo surveyors for insurance purposes
Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with our HSE policy
Oversee the activities of our Marine cargo surveyors for Marine insurance purposes.
Liaise with Port operators for Company Interests, and Head of Yards for of stacking provisions management
Liaise with Onne Base Logistics, warehouse for efficient operations and cargo reception/deliveries
Participate in shipping contracts, procedures and policy formulation.
Negotiate and handle settlements for Material damages arising from operations in relations with Insurance
Maintain company wide accessible shipping database, prepare weekly reports.
Maintain operational files and records by shipping transactions. And make entries on any Company approved software.
Perform any other tasks as assigned to him by his hierarchy
Job requirements
A degree in any Management or Social Sciences with at least three years experience in international trade / shipping in similar activities Must also be very analytical with ability to propose innovative and workable alternatives or solutions.
