Role Summary/Purpose:
The incumbent will be an experienced welder responsible for all facets of welding and related operations in a timely manner and in accordance with subsisting HSE policies and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
-Leads and trains a team of welders in welding processes and welding skills with a strong emphasis on safety.
-Initiates and implements a training programme that enables team members achieve appropriate welding certifications in Sub Arc,TIG,MIG,etc
- Responsible for increasing throughput and implementing time saving costs via recognised welding procedural implementation
-Participates and drives process improvements within the welding shop Team
-Accountable for ensuring that there is clear communication within the welding shop Team on all aspects of task completion
-Compiles and controls work packs, production of weld traceability map, NDT and dimensional reports
-Ensures good team work and safety on production lines
-Supervises shift workers in the manufacture and welding of tubular casing joints and speciality connectors on a production line.
Qualifications/Requirements:
-C&G Welding & Engineering Craft Studies with a significant experience in Vetco products
-Ability to read and understand drawings and engineering part specifications
-Experience in welding fabrication including cutting material to size and setting up joints
-Process experience: Submerged arc (SAW), SMAW, GMAW, FCAW and GTAW
-High level of HSE awareness with certification in slinging and lifting, abrasive wheels, manual handling and forklift
-Ability to lead and mentor a team of welders.
