Role Summary/Purpose:
The Marketing COE Leader will play a critical role in implementing and driving execution against GE Africa’s growth objectives. This position will be instrumental in setting strategic direction and building out GE Africa’s capability in the region to deliver on growth expectations. Essential Responsibilities
• Developing and deploying a systematic commercial strategy and growth agenda for the “1 GE Africa” platform:
– Support GE business platforms leading & facilitating the growth playbook process and establishing a strategic direction for the overall GE Africa platform.
– Collaborate and work closely with GE business units to create a clear view of success for GE in Africa.
– Work cross-functionally to drive strategy implementation delivering against growth projections.
• Deepening awareness, focus, and connectivity to local markets through:
– Developing a robust market intelligence capability including market segmentation, key industry / sector analysis, country / regional analytics, and regulatory and competitive trends and assessments.
– Champion the expansion of GE business units in Africa identifying market opportunities and collaborating with business to understand ‘true’ vs. ‘perceived’ market risks.
• Creating systems and processes that leverage market intelligence capabilities to drive opportunity assessments and support business strategy prioritization.
• Leading commercialization processes to build out GE Africa regional capabilities and support execution against growth opportunities:
– Create and drive supporting operating mechanisms around organic growth activities.
– Actively engage with GE business units to support expansion of sales distribution channels.
– Develop region-wide intelligence warehouse to create consistent, data-driven insights into region dynamics including competitive insights, risk-metrics, socio-political and industry trends.
– Facilitate GE enterprise / solution selling & cross-biz referrals.
– Develop and implement account prioritization and Sales Force Effectiveness tools / training to enhance regional sales.
• Champion growth as a process using Gold Standard Marketing frameworks to:
– Support innovation across the business including the localization of existing GE business capabilities to execute against agreed upon growth opportunities.
– Identify and support implementation of Imagination Breakthrough / company-to-country game changing plays for GE in Africa.
• Developing / deepening the GE value proposition through:
– Driving Access GE capabilities in the region to create value beyond products.
– Measure, drive, and support GE’s DVP (Differentiated Value Proposition).
• Building internal and external brand development:
– Own communications, PR, branding and advertising and sales promotion for the region.
– Drive community relations programs and align to company-to-country initiatives.
– Create a robust employee engagement and communication platform to support a winning culture.
• Support GE operational processes including Operating Plan and SII.
• Creating sustainability through building a talent bench across functional capabilities / disciplines within the region:
– Grow ECLP program by 2X

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in a marketing operations role
• Bachelor’s degree, with a Master's degree in Marketing, Finance, HR or Business Administration (MBA) is advantageous,
• Professional experience in Commercial/Sales leadership roles
• Outstanding project management skills incl. commercial assessments of business cases
• Ability to represent projects with internal and external stakeholders
• Good knowledge of GE and its products
• Customer centric approach – ability to understand how to proactively identify customer needs.
• Demonstrated GE values and Growth leadership traits - Integrity: accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions and when dealing with others.
• Commercial, customer facing, background in sales, marketing or business development. Consultancy experience can be decisive factor.
• Clear understanding and experience in complex transactions in developing countries with an appreciation for the Regional complexities of doing business in Africa.
• Excellent understanding of the regional economics with respect to regulatory impacts & subsidies and clear understanding and appreciation for the socio-political dimension within the region.
• Must be computer literate with creative capabilities in making own high level presentation.
