The British Deputy High Commission (BDHC) in Lagos has the following vacancy within the Corporate Services Team.
This is a full time position.

Position: LE I Corporate Services Officer
General
The British Deputy High Commission is looking for a Corporate Services Officer (CSO), who will work to the Corporate Services Manager, and will oversee the management of the Accounts and Procurement sections. The successful candidate will assist in the management of the BDHC budget and will also be working alongside senior management dealing with day to day issues ensuring the smooth running of the mission.


The CSO will also be expected to deputise for the Corporate Services Manager which will require wider involvement in other corporate services work including, Estates, HR etc.
Job Description
Responsibilities will include:
 Management of the local budget including: Preparation of month and year end reports, monthly monitoring of budget position; completion of quarterly returns.
 Day to day management of post account including, Supervision, checking and authorisation of expenditure, approval of requisitions and effective control of the Purchase to Pay (P2P) process from requisitioning through to invoicing as well as monitoring various section imprests.
 Overall management of Financial Prism Performance Measures (Financial KPI’s).
 Effective staff management of the Accounts and Procurement Section including maintaining and enhancing good working practices and service delivery.
 Ensure Foreign and Commonwealth Office Internal Audit rules and Finance and Procurement rules are adhered to.
 Dealing with day to day staff queries on finance, procurement or compliance related issues.
 Maintaining existing contracts for Landline telephones, Mobile telephones, Internet and other contracts as necessary and oversee management of contract tenders where necessary.
 Ad hoc secure I.T. Systems duties.
Qualities needed
We are looking to recruit a British Passport Holder who is an experienced professional to lead our Finance team. Evidence of strong leadership, financial knowledge and team-working in a fast-paced environment are pre-requisites to be a success at this role.
The successful candidate will need to be a self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills. The candidate will have excellent organisational skills, including the ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and the ability to work with a diverse range of people.
Previous experience of working in an office environment, including staff management, is essential. Candidates must have good keyboard skills and familiarity with computers and software packages (notably MS Word and MS Excel) is essential.
Requirements:
This is a full time position, with a preferred start date of Mid May 2011. Working hours 0730 – 1530 Monday to Thursday and 0730 -1230 on Friday. The job will be graded LEI with a salary of N469,436. The successful candidate who is not liable to pay Nigerian tax will be subject to a 10 % notional tax deduction. The salary will be paid in Naira.
